Ted Pantone won’t be put in a box. An American expat, Ted has worked and lived in various African countries for nearly two decades, starting a few different companies in the process. He’s helped spearhead water initiatives in West Kenya, led a team of impact investors in Uganda, and even opened Uganda’s first Pizza Hut franchise. With each of these, he eventually handed the reins to local management and oversight. His latest venture, Turaco, is a microinsurance company that seeks to free people from the fear of financial shock. Though based in Kenya, the company has a presence in Uganda and Nigeria as well and plans on expanding further over the next 25 years. Their goal? To insure a billion people, advocating for them and helping them gain access to the care they need. Ted keeps people at the heart of all he does.
