Cosmas Maduka
Founder, President and Chairman | Coscharis Group
Cosmas Maduka is a Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, and the Founder, President and Chairman of the Coscharis Group. Maduka began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of six, two years after his father died. He dropped out of primary school and started hawking Akara, a popular Nigerian food staple to support him and his mother. Cosmas formally ventured into business at the age of 17. And in 1977, he founded Coscharis Motor, a leading distributor of several brands of luxury cars. In 2015, Coscharis Motors won Auto Brand of the Year at the Marketing World Awards held in Ghana. Today, the Coscharis Group is the sole distributor of BMW and is rated one of the top 50 brands in Nigeria. Always setting his sights on the next venture, Coscharis Group has grown to include companies in several different industries—auto, food and beverage, farming, and more. In 2016 the Anambra State approved 5,000 hectare of land for Coscharis Farms to cultivate rice—the project generates up to 3,000 jobs. And yet, Cosmas works hardest at remaining humble even in the wake of great success. He joins us on the podcast today.
